Description
The CG01 table lamp was designed in 1968 by Christophe Gevers for the iconic Brussels brasserie Le Cap d’Argent, a cherished meeting place for the local cultural elite. Gevers conceived the entire interior—lighting included—guided by a vision of simplicity, functionality, and enduring beauty.
Originally produced in classic red, the lamp became a symbol of refined Belgian design. Today, its legacy continues through a series of unique reinterpretations by Edouard Vermeulen (Natan), the CAB Foundation, Isabelle de Borchgrave, Caroline Notté, and Valérie Barkowski. Each version brings a fresh aesthetic perspective while honoring the spirit of the original.
A notable new addition is “Le Sud”, a warm deep blue inspired by a shade Gevers used in his holiday retreat in La Garde-Freinet, in the South of France. Like the reissued classic red, this edition is limited to 150 numbered pieces, adding a southern touch to the lamp’s industrial silhouette.
All versions are individually numbered, and—except for the Classic Red and Black—also strictly limited in quantity. The CG01 remains a timeless collectible, blending design heritage with contemporary artistry.
